Filtering
The NoNoSurf™ dynamic filter is based on sophisticated proprietary AI Content Recognition technology, that can "identify' the content of a site and then decide whether to allow it or not. Every requested site is inspected by SafeSurf 's intelligent algorithm to ensure its compliance with corporate, institutional, or parental usage policies. SafeSurf provides complete and reliable Web coverage with unmatched recognition accuracy.
SafeSurf comprises a powerful set of Artificial Intelligence algorithms that analyse and categorise data in real-time.
Any web page requested by a user is received packet by packet and sent to the HTML Parser. The parser is the first component of SafeSurf that inspects the incoming data. When packets arrive, the parser breaks down the HTML code into hundreds of parameters, creating a long vector.
The SafeSurf engine recognises different types of parameters and takes into account the words used in the page and the basic layout and format of the page. For example, pornography pages typically have very similar characteristics, explicit words, a large number of graphics, dark backgrounds, large fonts, etc. In contrast, educational sites containing information about sex education, typically contain extensive texts, formal language, light backgrounds, simple fonts and few graphics. These differences in appearance and language are what enable the SafeSurf engine to distinguish between the two very different categories of content.

List Management
One of the traditional ways of filtering goes through a method to check every requested URL against a database and allow or disallow the access to that URL.
The estimated number of URLs on the Web fluctuates but the last survey data from the Internet Software Consortium provides estimates that there were well over 200 million Web sites.
Proprietary collections of URLs are designed to associate each URL they contain with a specific content category that users may want to filter. When a site is requested, the filter looks up the address of the requested Web site in the database.
By comparing the requested URL against the database, the filter can block or allow access to the site in accordance with the Internet usage policy set up by the organisation or individual.
URL databases are supplied and maintained by the NoNoSurf™ team. The database contains entries for Internet domain names and specific sub-domain URLs. Each entry is classified into a specific category of activity. URLs not found in the database are usually allowed through, although most filters can be configured to block all not categorised traffic.
NoNoSurf™ uses a black list of sites with automatic updates. You can create your own white list or black list of sites and keywords.
Profiles Management
The Parental Control Options menu allows you to create multiple profiles. A separate filtering for each profile. If you are ambitious and want a "grown up" profile that allows things that another "kids" profile does not allow, you can enable that here. Once you have profiles enabled, you will be prompted for who you are (i.e., which profile should be used for your session on that computer) every time you boot up or log in.
The Profile menu enables subscribers to quickly create multiple user accounts independent of the windows user. Accounts are established based on age based profiles. Each user account can be password protected. Customizable settings allow subscribers to further define user strictness levels. Parents may also choose to override certain profile based Web site blocks and create their own list.
Time Management
An important feature of NoNoSurf™ Browser is it's time management. You can specify by what hours on what days of the week the user can access and use Internet. You also have the ability to enter a 'weekly allowance' which when the total time you enter for the selection has been used for that week the user no longer has access until the following week.

Restore Access
If a user has been blocked access you have the option as the administrator to quickly and easily grant them full access. This is useful if a user really does need access, but due to settings is being blocked for whatever reason.
